The Augsburg men's soccer team has its home opener tonight (rain or shine, hopefully shine!) when Minnesota-Morris visits Edor Nelson Field at 7:30 p.m.
Augsburg opened its season with a 1-0-1 trip to Iowa, playing to a scoreless tie at Simpson on Friday night and scoring a 2-1 win at Central on Saturday. D.J. Wendell scored both goals for the Auggies in the win at Central.
Minnesota-Morris is coming off a successful weekend of victories over MIAC foes, with a 5-1 victory over St. Mary's on Friday and a 3-0 win at Hamline on Monday. Patrick O'Connor has three of the Cougars' six goals on the season, and former Augsburg defender Kelsey Duerr is now on the Minnesota-Morris roster.
Also today, the men's golf team is scheduled to open its season with a dual meet against St. Olaf at the Summit Golf Course in Cannon Falls. Six golfers return from last season's squad for fourth-year coach Ted Vickerman.
Over the weekend, Augsburg's women's golf team opened its season at the Wisconsin-Eau Claire Fall Invitational. Sophomores Johanna Frykmark and Stef Zappa both posted personal-best 36-hole scores for the Auggies, with Frykmark carding a 172 and Zappa carding a 177.
